What are E1 & E2 non-immigrant visas?

Steven Lawson

The E1 non-immigrant visa is for those who wish to conduct trade with the US and are citizens of a qualifying country. Examples of E1 visa applicants would be public speakers, coaches, consultants, social media influencers, and businesses who wish to trade in goods and/or services with US companies, including companies owned by the E1 company.

The E2 non-immigrant visa is for those who wish to own and operate a business in the US and are citizens of a qualifying country. Examples of E2 visa applicants would range from single owner to large publicly traded businesses. There is no requirement that the applicant own or operate a business in their country of citizenship.
